Walk around and you will find museums, Laurel’s Little Theater, the lavender house and the historical Deason Home. Registered as a historic place, the Deason Home is a great stop to include on your itinerary. It is the oldest home in Jones County and holds a great deal of history as Confederate officers and deserters battled and occupied the house during the Civil War days. 
     
    Once you have satisfied your fix of history, it is time to take the family to the Lake Bogue Homa. It offers recreational activities for everyone, from waterskiing to bass fishing.
