The library opened in June 2007 as a dedication to Billy Graham. Once you head to the grounds, you’ll notice that the library is styled after a dairy barn with a silo. It was designed this way to reflect Billy Graham’s farm-based childhood. It is situated on 20 acres just miles from where Billy Graham grew up. The tour takes you through Billy Graham’s life with multimedia presentations including videos, interactive kiosks, photos, memorabilia and sound clips from his speeches. You can also see a replica of Billy Graham’s desk and a model Graham Brothers Dairy truck on display inside of the library.
The library is built on the same property as the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association where the Appreciation Walkway is also located. This walkway on library grounds leads to a Prayer Garden where Billy’s late wife, Ruth Graham, is buried. The home of Morrow Coffey Graham, Billy Graham’s mother, has also been preserved on library grounds. Be sure to tour the home Billy Graham lived in which was meticulously restored using 80% of the original materials.
