Toronto Hotels
Book with Choice Hotels in Toronto to explore the city’s nightlife, markets, art galleries and more. Canada’s largest city presents you with all the urban sophistication you can desire, including fine dining, great theater and musical performances. It is also located on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario with unlimited outdoor activities. When you stay at one of the Toronto hotels listed below, you can see and experience all of the city’s great attractions, which include: Famous People Players Dinner Theatre, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Island Park, Princess of Wales Theater, Art Gallery of Ontario and the St. Lawrence Market.
At the Famous People Players Dinner Theatre, you will begin your evening with a fabulous dinner designed and prepared by celebrity chef Christopher Woods. After that, you proceed to the theater proper where a unique black-light puppet production will inspire and enchant through music, dance, special effects and life-sized characters. Then on to coffee and dessert while mingling with the cast. The theater is dedicated to helping those who are developmentally challenged—and the show urges everyone to follow their dreams. It will definitely be the feel-good pinnacle of your visit! If you would prefer a more classical evening out, then choose a concert given by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, which attracts world-class guest musicians and offers a brilliant concert series. Program notes are available online 10 days prior to performances so that you can learn a little about the music you will be hearing before purchasing your tickets. There are occasional “casual concerts” when the orchestra dresses down, masterworks concerts, light classics, pops, new creations and young people’s concerts offered throughout the year. It is time to get outside, so head over to Toronto Island Park via ferry to enjoy a day out of the city while being only minutes from it. There are actually three islands: one for families with an amusement park (best for young children), one with beautiful beaches and one for simply strolling, bicycling and having a light lunch at the Rectory Café. You will be able to enjoy stupendous views of the city skyline across the water from anyplace in the park.
Check out Toronto’s Broadway tradition at the Princess of Wales Theater, opened in 1993 with one of the widest and deepest stages in North America and state-of-the-art technical facilities. Seats are roomy and comfortable, and the productions are world-class and include such favorites as Les Mis, The Lion King, The Book of Mormon and Miss Saigon. Formerly known as the Art Museum of Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario is one of the largest art museums in North America. The Canadian collection in particular is worth viewing and includes one of the largest Inuit art collections in the world. Masterpieces of European art take their place beside decorative arts, ship models and a comprehensive collection of contemporary art. A separate photographic gallery and special exhibitions round out the museum’s offerings. Admission is free on Wednesday evenings and there are special film screenings at various times. It used to be the city hall, but shopping is on the agenda these days at the St. Lawrence Market. It offers an assortment of eclectic goods you will rarely find anywhere. On Sundays the North Market becomes antiques central, where young hip designers rub elbows with seasoned antiques pros. The Market Gallery is a mini-museum that tells about the building’s Victorian past as well as hosting changing exhibits. In the South Market you will find the freshest of farmer’s markets, and you can use the ingredients you purchase there if you take one of the workshops offered next door at the Market Kitchen.
It may be the largest city in Canada, but Toronto manages to feel both comfortable and practicable. Stay at one of the Toronto hotels listed below for the best in relaxation and convenience as you tour the city’s myriad attractions and enjoy the plethora of activities available here.
