Known as “The Hub of Central Oregon”, this city was named after Frank T. Redmond, who settled in the area in 1905. Electricity and the Oregon Trunk Railway reached the city in 1911, which opened markets for farmers and merchants. The population had reached 1,000 by 1930, doubled by 1940, and then remained relatively static until the 1990s. Redmond has since become one of Oregon’s fastest-growing cities. Uniquely situated on the eastern side of Oregon’s Cascade Mountain Range and at the western edge of the High Desert plateau, Redmond sits at an elevation of 3,077 feet above sea level and boasts fantastic weather.
