In 1762, Henry William Stiegel laid out his plans for the town of Manheim, although it wasn’t incorporated until 1838. After founding the Manheim Glassworks and trying to build an industrial empire, Stiegel’s efforts failed. However, the town continued on, and grew over the years to its current population of nearly 5,000 people.
Established in 1945, the Manheim Auto Auction was originally a wholesale vehicle auction operation. Today, it’s North America’s leading provider of vehicle remarketing services—connecting buyers and sellers to the largest wholesale used vehicle marketplace and most extensive auction network. Located on Route 72, the auction has many daily visitors and opens for business every Friday.
