Learn more about the city’s history at the Weed Historic Lumber Town Museum, where you can view artifacts and photos that detail the history of this California community. Some of the rooms in the museum have been decorated to appear as a kitchen, sewing room and bedroom from the 1900s, and logging tools from the old lumber company show how trees were cut down and processed before the days of electric and diesel-powered tools. The building that houses the museum was previously served as a courthouse and jail, and you see two former jail blocks, a booking room and room dedicated to Charlie Byrd, who was California’s first African-American sheriff.
