The Allman Brothers Band was based in Macon from 1969 to 1973. The Allman Brothers Band Museum at the Big House is a collection of memorabilia from those years and throughout the band's career. The museum features mementos from each of the band member's personal lives. Spend a couple of hours browsing. The ornate St. Joseph's Catholic Church was constructed between 1889 and 1892 and has mesmerizing stained glass windows. It was renovated around 2004, and all repairs kept the building's original integrity in mind.

Rose Hill Cemetery is not only a beautiful resting place in Macon, but it is the cemetery where both Duane Allman and Berry Oakley are buried. Both were members of the Allman Brothers Band. Some folks find the cemetery so pretty that they get their exercise here. Walk past mausoleums and tombstones, along the river and under beautiful magnolia trees.
