The shows trace the history of the area’s first inhabitants, Powell’s expeditions and building of the Glen Canyon Dam. The museum is open most days, and entrance fee is based on age. The Carl Hayden Visitor Center on the Utah side of the Colorado River going west of town is a contact station for the Glen Canyon Dam and recreation region. The Glen Canyon Natural History Association does tours of the dam for a small fee daily, with extended hours and extra tours during the warmer months. And, because this is a working dam, all guests must pass through security, meaning no food, weapons or large bags are permitted.
