Tulsa's Temps
In Oklahoma, the winds come sweeping down the plains—but don't fear icy blasts, because Tulsa remains fairly warm. Summer highs average just above 90 degrees, and while winter is cold—temperatures in the 30s and 40s are typical—the city gets less than 10 inches of snow in an average year. Temperatures in the 50s, 60s and 70s are typical in spring and fall. Early summer is the rainiest time of year, though showers and storms are possible throughout the year.
Something for Everyone
Go to the Philbrook Museum of Art for the sculptures, stay for the architecture. The museum is housed in a 72-room mansion, built in 1927, and exploring both the building and its sprawling gardens is like being transported to Europe. Tulsa also boasts the Gilcrease Museum, which showcases the history of the Wild West, and the Tulsa Air and Space Museum and Planetarium. The city also has a zoo, a pro hockey team and a WNBA basketball team. Walk or bike along the 26 miles of trails at Tulsa River Parks, and take in the nightlife in downtown's Blue Dome neighborhood.
