Branson Fun Indoors and Out
You may find it hard to believe that a museum dedicated to the sinking of the Titanic lives in the middle of the Ozarks, but it’s true. The Titanic Museum is filled with artifacts from the wreck, along with interactive displays that explain the recovery effort. At the Branson Dinosaur Museum, you'll come nose to nose with life-sized dino replicas, including the T-Rex. Head for the Branson Scenic Railway for a 40-mile train ride through the Ozarks. Get even closer to nature at Table Rock State Park, roughly 11 miles south of downtown Branson. Hike the trails or rent a pontoon boat and get out on the water. If live entertainment is the reason for your visit, Branson has more than 40 theaters to choose from, as well as plenty of dinner shows. Check out the performances at Branson Murder Mysteries and aboard the Showboat Branson Belle.
Tourism is King
Branson's come a long way from its sleepy little town beginnings. The logging industry put it on the map, but was later overshadowed by the current leading industry, tourism. Every time you watch a show, scope out a museum, or simply go shopping in the downtown core, you're supporting this community of roughly 10,000 people. The friendly atmosphere and abundance of indoor and outdoor activities draws more than 8 million people to Branson annually. It's time you got in on the fun. A small town like Branson has a surprising list of to-dos for every member of your crew.
Find Your Way Around
You'll find major carriers such as United and American Airlines flying into the Springfield-Branson National Airport, roughly a 50-mile drive from town. The smaller Branson Airport is closer, about 10 miles away, but it has limited flights. The easiest way to get around Branson is by car, especially if you want to visit areas outside of town such as Table Rock State Park. If you've opted for a shuttle or taxi from the airport, you can always rent a car in Branson. The city has no scheduled public bus service, but a number of shuttles are available—just give them a jingle.
