For a step back to 1912, visit the M.E. Blanton house—a 3,000-square-foot Craftsman-style house that was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. Currently used as a law office, the house features a matching pump house and small pool on the grounds; the pool was the only pool in Aloha for many years.
Just 11 miles south of Aloha is the 1,856-acre Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. Managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, this wetlands and lowlands sanctuary was established in 1992 and opened to the public in 2006. It’s one of only 10 urban refuges in the U.S., and is home to nearly 200 bird species and more than 70 other animal species. Next to the visitor center is an observation deck that overlooks seasonal ponds. Nearly five miles of wildlife interpretive trails are open to the public.
Situated on 330 acres between Aloha and neighboring Hillsboro is The Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club, an award-winning, 36-hole private and public golf club. Designed by former PGA pro John Fought III, the club opened in 1997 and hosted several major golf tournaments. The Reserve’s two 18-hole courses rotate between public and private use daily. The wine-themed club has its own wine label and features both a pro shop and restaurant.
