Another great historical stop is the War Between the States Museum, where you can see items once used in the Florence Stockade prison camp, as well as many military artifacts and photographs.
You can complete your historical tour of Florence with a stop at the Florence National Cemetery, where veterans of five different wars, including the Civil War, are buried. For some active fun, head to The Traces Golf Club. Here, you can try one of the three nine-hole courses as well as great green areas for practice. The club also offers a nice restaurant with great views of the green. One stop you should definitely see is the Columns Plantation. The mid 19th-century mansion is a former cotton and tobacco plantation now registered with the National Register of Historical Places. You can also attend historical reenactments throughout the year.
