Reduce, reuse, recycle—with over 6,500 hotels around the world and two large corporate locations, we know our efforts can have an impact on our environment. Through our Room to be Green™ program, we promote environmentally-friendly practices throughout the hotel system and at our corporate offices.

Committed to reducing our environmental footprint

We are asking all of our hotels to join us in promoting environmentally sustainable practices. We laid out four different levels of our Room to be Green program, and with this pledge our hotels are required to have achieved at least the minimum Level 1 of our Room to be Green program - because, together, we can make a difference.

Level One

Required for all hotels

An entry-level approach for hotels embarking on their sustainability journey. Example requirements: utility data reporting, basic water and energy saving measures, Green Ambassador.

Level Two

Achieve Level 1 and Implement Additional Level 2 Items

A broader approach for hotels with advanced building solutions. Example requirements: all of the above, plus occupancy sensors and a food-waste reduction program.

Level Three

Achieve Level 2 and Implement Additional Level 3 Items

A comprehensive approach for hotel sustainability experts. Example requirements: all of the above, plus use of renewable energy and availability of electric vehicle chargers.

Level Four

Achieve Level 3 and Implement Additional Level 4 items

A best-in-class approach for hotel sustainability trailblazers. Example requirements: all of the above, plus green vehicle fleet and gray water management.

We are proud let our owners and guests know that our worldwide headquarters located in North Bethesda, MD is Gold LEED Certified (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) and our Phoenix campus is LEED Certified. With features like a green roof, Energy Star® appliances, recycling, walkable communities, and technological enhancements to reduce paper waste - to name a few - practicing a sustainable lifestyle is a way of life for our associates.
